Born into a musical family, she was admitted with first place to the Primary School Affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at the age of nine, and later progressed directly to the affiliated middle school and university. She graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. She studied under the renowned violin pedagogue Professor Zheng Shisheng and the distinguished Russian violin professor Eduard Grach.

Huang Chenxing has received the National Outstanding Instructor Award from the Ministry of Culture four times. She has also been honored with the Shanghai Literary and Artistic Talent Award on two occasions, the Shanghai Gardener Award, the Souxing China National Outstanding Teacher Award, the He Luting Award fifteen times, and the Tang Foundation Award ten times, among other distinctions.

In teaching, her students have won major prizes including First Prize at the Bucharest International Violin Competition in Romania, First Prize at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy, First Prize at the Kazakhstan International Violin Competition, First Prize at the Beethoven International Violin Competition, First Prize in the Professional Youth Division of the Hong Kong International Violin Competition, First Prize in both the Professional Youth Division and Professional Junior Division of the National Youth Violin Concerto Competition in Qingdao, Second Prize at the Okinawa International Music Competition in Japan, Second Prize at the Yamal Symphony International Competition for Young Musicians in Russia, and Second Prize at the Brahms International Violin Competition.

In major national competitions, twelve of her students have received awards in the Wenhua Award National Professional Violin Competition and the China Golden Bell Violin Competition.

As a jury member, she has been invited to serve at the 13th, 14th, 16th, 22nd, and 25th Romanian International Violin Competitions, the 3rd International Violin Competition of Stradivarius in the United States, the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy, the Hong Kong International Violin Competition, the Vienna Beethoven International Violin Competition, the Cooper International Violin Competition in the United States, the Yamal Symphony International Competition for Young Musicians in Russia, the Chengdu Guangya International Violin Competition, the National Youth Concerto Competition in Qingdao, the Shenzhen Futian Cup International String Elite Competition, the China preliminary round of the Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians, the China division of the Khachaturian International Violin Competition, and the Qingdao International Violin Competition, among others.

In the field of international exchange, she has presented masterclasses and concerts in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, Romania, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

In academic research, she has published numerous papers and authored books including A Scientific Approach to Violin Training, Intensive Modal Intonation Training for Violin, Intensive Training for Violin Finger Technique, A Systematic Method for Violin Position Shifting, Specialized Training in Violin Chord Technique, and Systematic Training in Violin Scales of Parallel Keys (Four Octaves). She has also published multimedia teaching materials such as Violin Teaching and Piano Accompaniment, Rode: 24 Caprices, and Eight Chinese Works.
