
Jaewon Rhyu graduated from Seoul Arts High School and the College of Music of Seoul National University, and later continued his studies in Germany, where he completed the Soloist Program (KE) at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf with the highest score under Professor Ida Bieler. After graduation, he served as assistant to Professor Ida Bieler and performed actively in Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland, appearing in recitals, concerto performances, and chamber music concerts.
After returning to Korea, he made his official debut as concertmaster in a performance of Richard Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben, which was met with critical acclaim. He has also shown a strong interest in contemporary music, giving the premiere and recording of composer Jaehyuck Choi’s Violin Concerto as soloist.
In Korea, he has collaborated with many distinguished orchestras, including KCO (formerly Seoul Baroque Ensemble), the Gwacheon Symphony Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul National University Alumni Orchestra. He has also presented numerous recitals in Seoul, Daegu, and Busan, continuing to meet audiences through regular performances.
He formerly served as Adjunct Professor at Hanyang University, Kyung Hee University, Seokyeong University, and Kookmin University, and has continued to give masterclasses and open lessons in Seoul and across Korea.
He is currently Principal Concertmaster of the Gwacheon Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster of KCO (formerly Seoul Baroque Ensemble), while remaining active in concerto performances, recitals, and a wide range of concert appearances.
