He graduated from Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and the College of Music of Seoul National University, and completed both the master’s degree and Artist Diploma at Yale University on a full scholarship; he later earned his doctoral degree from Rutgers University on a full scholarship.

Violinist Kim Jeongyeon has been widely praised for the way he lives through music with sensitivity and communicates deeply with audiences through its energy. He has received international acclaim for his profound musicianship, powerful sound, and distinctive stage charisma.

He graduated from Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and the College of Music of Seoul National University, where he completed his studies as the top performance student with honors. He later continued his studies at Yale University, completing both the master’s degree and Artist Diploma on a full scholarship, and then earned his doctoral degree from Rutgers University on a full scholarship. During his doctoral studies, he presented the dissertation An Analytical Study of Béla Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2, received the Excellent Artist Award, and completed the degree with full funding.

Recognized for extraordinary musical talent from an early age, he won the Grand Prize at the Boy Korea Ilbo Competition, the Grand Prize at the Kigwang Competition, First Prize at the Seoul Symphony Competition, First Prize at the Seoul Chamber Music Competition, and prizes in the Ewha-Kyonghyang and Kookmin Ilbo competitions, as well as top awards in the Mason Gross Chamber Competition and the RSO Concerto Competition. Internationally, he won the Grand Prize at the New York International Competition, First Prize at the AFAF International Competition, and First Prize at the American Protégé International Competition, further establishing his position as an international artist. In recognition of both his performing career and civic contributions, he was named Artist of the Year by the Korea-America Cultural Exchange Association and received awards from the New Jersey State Senate and Assembly, a commendation from a member of the U.S. Congress, and the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award.

At the age of twelve, he made his debut at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall with the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Since then, he has presented dozens of invited recitals at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, the Di Menna Center Cary Hall, St. Marien in Germany, Detroit ArtLabJ Theatre, Schare Hall, the Seoul Arts Center, and Kumho Art Hall. Through performances in Berlin, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Shanghai, Taipei, and other cities, he has remained highly active on the international stage.

Following a recital in Germany, he was praised by the German press Passau 24 as “a world-class performer.” He has also been invited to collaborate in chamber music performances with major artists of our time, including Miriam Fried, Roberto Díaz, Hsin-Yun Huang, Robert McDonald, and Peter Stump, engaging in deep and meaningful musical exchange.

He has appeared on many important stages, including the Gyeonggi Chamber Music Festival, the Just Vivace Chamber Music Festival, the “World Performance Leaders Night” at the Korean Consulate General in New York, concerts at the Korean Cultural Center New York, a commemorative performance for the presidential visit to New York, the Eumyeon Young Artists Festival, the World Youth Cultural Exchange Expo at Busan BEXCO and Ilsan KINTEX, and Lecture Concerts at the Gyeonggi Arts Center.

As a concerto soloist, he was selected as featured soloist of the Seongnam International Youth Orchestra Festival and performed with the Seoul Youth Orchestra. He has also appeared with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, Ulsan Nam-gu District Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National Symphony Orchestra, New York Classical Symphony Orchestra, Rutgers Symphony Orchestra, Ansan Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Classical Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul National University Orchestra, among others. His performance with the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra received an enthusiastic response and was broadcast live on the American classical radio station WWFM.

He also hosted the program Falling into Classical Music with Jane Kim on Radio Korea FM 87.7 in New York, contributing to the popularization of classical music through communication with listeners.

He previously taught at Seoul National University and Yonsei University, and served as visiting professor at Namseoul Arts College. He is currently Adjunct Professor at Gachon University, Visiting Professor at the University of Suwon, Professor at the Seoul National University of Education Gifted Education Institute, and faculty member at Ewha Womans University, Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and Sunhwa Arts Middle and High School. At the same time, he serves as leader and concertmaster of Korean Baroque Solisten and Korea Bach Society, Artistic Director of the International Performers Association, a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization, guest concertmaster of the New York Classical Symphony Orchestra and Jersey City Philharmonic Orchestra, and concertmaster of the Lium Chamber Orchestra, maintaining an active performance career across Korea, the United States, Europe, and Asia.
