She began studying cello at the age of nine and made her debut with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at twelve. While attending Yewon School, she was discovered by Sir Yehudi Menuhin and at thirteen moved to the United Kingdom to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School. She later earned a bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, a master’s degree and Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School, and completed doctoral coursework at the State University of New York. Throughout eighteen years of study abroad, she received full scholarships.

In Korea, she won first prizes in major competitions organized by The Chosun Ilbo, Yehwa-Kyonghyang, and The Korea Times.
Internationally, she also received awards in competitions such as the Philadelphia Orchestra Young Artists Competition, the Juilliard Haydn Competition, the Long Island Competition, the New York International Artists Competition, and the Martin Scholarship in the United Kingdom.

She has performed alongside world-class musicians including Yehudi Menuhin, the Emerson Quartet, Colin Carr, Ani Kavafian, Rainer Moog, and Maria Kliegel.
She has been invited to give recitals at Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, the Manchester Cello Festival, the Lequ memorial concert in Belgium, the Les Arcs Festival in France, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Komatsu Hall in Japan, Hoam Art Hall, and the Kumho Friday Concert Series.
Her performances have also been broadcast through media such as WSHU Radio in the United States, KBS FM, KBS Classical Odyssey, MBC Youth Concert, and Japan’s NHK.

As a concerto soloist and collaborative artist, she has appeared with the Guildford Symphony Orchestra in the United Kingdom, the Menuhin Chamber Orchestra, the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra in the United States, a Baroque ensemble, the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Korean Symphony Orchestra, the Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra, the KT Chamber Orchestra, Arco Diablo Chamber Orchestra, Sofia Chamber Orchestra, Millennium Symphony Orchestra, the Gunsan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Ulsan Symphony Orchestra.
